Detailed About Thiruvabharanam Gosha Yatra & Route

DETAILED ABOUT THIRUVABHARANAM

On Dhanu 28, marking the commencement of the sacred Thiruvabharanam Gosha Yatra Procession, a series of revered rituals unfold, drawing thousands of devotees to witness this auspicious event.

At 4:00 AM, the holy Thiruvabharanam boxes are ceremoniously taken from the Srampickal Palace and moved to the Valiyakoickal Sree Dharma Sastha Temple. Here, the ornaments are displayed for darshan and offerings, an act believed to bring immense spiritual benefits to devotees.

As the day progresses, an extraordinary event heightens the spiritual fervor. At approximately 1:00 PM, a Brahminy Kite—locally referred to as 'Krishnapparunthu'—is sighted soaring gracefully above the temple. This majestic bird is considered an embodiment of Lord Vishnu upon Garuda, symbolically accompanying the Thiruvabharanam from Pandalam to Sabarimala. The kite reappears above the Sabarimala Temple as the procession reaches its destination, reinforcing the devotees' faith in this divine phenomenon.

The atmosphere is electrifying, with chants of the bhagwan name swamiye Saranam Ayyappa reverberating through the air. The energy peaks with the thunderous explosion of crackers, reflecting the devotion of millions gathered to honor the ritual.

Adding to the grandeur, the Valiya Thampuran, the royal patriarch of the Pandalam dynasty, makes his royal arrival at the temple. Inside, he offers vibhuti (sacred ash) to the procession members, marking a significant moment in this age-old tradition.

The Thiruvabharanam Gosha yatra Procession is not just a ritual but a testament to the enduring faith and devotion of millions, embodying the spiritual and cultural essence of Sabarimala.
