Sub-Inspector Suspended for Reporting to Sabarimala Duty Drunk
A Sub-Inspector (SI) at Sabarimala has been suspended following an investigation that confirmed he reported to duty under the influence of alcohol. The incident occurred on the night of December 13.
B. Padmakumar, a member of the Malappuram MSP Battalion, was accused of consuming alcohol while on duty at the Nilakkal Sub-Division. Reports suggest that his actions caused significant inconvenience to the public and devotees in the area.
In response to the allegations, Padmakumar underwent a
medical examination, which confirmed the consumption of alcohol. Consequently,
a disciplinary inquiry was launched, with the Assistant Commandant of the Rapid
Response and Rescue Force (RRRF) and the Armed Police Deputy Inspector General
(DIG) assigned to investigate the matter.
The suspension comes as part of the authorities' efforts to
maintain discipline and uphold the integrity of law enforcement duties at the
sacred site.
