Harivarasanam Award 2025 Bestowed Upon Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri

 

ThiruvananthapuramThe prestigious harivarasanam award for 2025, instituted by the government of kerala to honor contributions promoting interfaith harmony and equality, has been awarded to renowned musician and lyricist KAITHAPRAM DAMODARAN NAMBOOTHIRI.

 

The award, closely associated with the revered sabarimala temple, comprises a cash prize of ₹1 lakh, a certificate, and a plaque. It will be formally presented at the sabarimala sannidhanam on the auspicious day of makaravilakku, announced devaswom minister V.N.VASAVAN.

Kaithapram was recognized for his remarkable efforts in using music to elevate sabarimala and swami ayyappan into the public consciousness, along with his extensive contributions as a lyricist, music director, screenwriter, and actor.

 

“the selection reflects his commitment to fostering spiritual values and cultural harmony,” said minister vasavan, while highlighting kaithapram’s illustrious career.

 

The award selection committee included revenue (devaswom) special secretary anupama t.v., travancore devaswom board commissioner prakash c.v., and acclaimed musician k. Omanakutty.

 

Kaithapram damodaran namboothiri has previously won several accolades, including the kerala state film award for best lyricist for his work in paitrukam and azhakiya ravanan. He has also been honored with the state film award for best music director in 1997 for karunyam and the kerala state drama award twice for songwriting. In 2021, he received the prestigious padma shri award, further cementing his legacy in indian arts and culture.

 

The harivarasanam award continues to uphold the values of sabarimala, honoring individuals whose work exemplifies harmony and universal values.
