Idukki’s Comprehensive Preparations for Makaravilakku 2025
Preparations for Makaravilakku in Idukki:
1. Transportation Facilities
- 50 KSRTC buses will operate from Kumily for Makaravilakku.
- 10 buses will be kept on reserve, making a total of 60 buses available.
- Devotees traveling from Sabarimala to Pullumedu to witness the Makaravilakku will not be allowed to return to Sabarimala.
2. Medical Arrangements:
- Ambulance and medical teams will be stationed every 2 km from Vallakadavu to Pullumedu Top.
- Drinking water facilities are set up every 1 km for the convenience of devotees.
- 14 ambulances, including ICU-equipped ones, will be provided under the Health Department's leadership.
3. Safety Measures:
- A total of 1350 police personnel, including 150 officers, will be deployed at key locations.
- Fire safety units will be stationed at Kumily, Vandiperiyar, Satram, Parunthumpara, and Panchalimedu.
- Safety barricades have been installed, and safety boards will be placed in hazardous areas.
4. Forest Department and RRT Deployment:
- Forest Department duty points will be established every 1 km from the fourth mile to Uppupara.
- The RRT team will manage road access to Pullumedu and oversee safety measures.
5. Public Facilities:
- Drinking water tanks have been installed at Uppupara, Pullumedu, and Kozhikode, including a 2000-liter capacity tank.
- Temporary toilets and sanitation workers are arranged under the local self-government's supervision.
- Cafeteria services will be provided at Kozhikode and Pullumedu for devotees.
6. Illumination and Communication:
- Lighted platforms are set up for 14 km from Kozhikode to Pullumedu.
- Announcements will be made in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.
- BSNL will ensure mobile connectivity in Pullumedu on Makaravilakku day.
7. Environmental Guidelines:
- Burning of camphor and use of plastic and other prohibited items are strictly forbidden.
- Parking facilities are arranged at Vandiperiyar Panchayat Stadium and Valadi Ground.
8. Additional Facilities:
- LED screens for Makaravilakku viewing will be installed in Pullumedu, Parunthumpara, and Panchalimedu.
- A lightning conductor has been installed at Pullumedu Top.
9. Administrative Oversight:
- An online meeting chaired by District Collector V. Vigneshwari included senior officials from various departments.
- The Collector, along with a team, will inspect the arrangements at Pullumedu, Parunthumpara, and Panchalimedu.
10. Travel Advisory:
- Devotees traveling from Tamil Nadu to Sabarimala are advised to take the route via Kumily, Kambammedu, Kattappana, and Kuttikkanam.
