Sabarimala: Enhanced Security Measures for Makaravilakku Festival
Security arrangements at Sabarimala have been strengthened ahead of the Makaravilakku festival. A new batch of police personnel will take charge on Thursday, led by V.S. Ajith, the Police Special Officer for Sannidhanam.
The new team includes 10 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySPs), 36 Inspectors, 105 Sub-Inspectors (SIs), and 1,450 police officers. Additional personnel have been deployed at the Pandithavalam area, where pilgrims set up makeshift shelters, with security overseen by DySPs.
Security has also been intensified at key locations where the Makarajyothi is visible, including Pullumedu, Attathode, Nelimala, Nilakkal, Hilltop, and Parunthumpara. Adequate lighting will be arranged in these areas, along with provisions for drinking water to cater to the needs of pilgrims
