Govt Allocates Just ₹47.97 Cr for Pampa-Sannidhanam Despite Sabarimala’s Record Revenue


Kerala Budget 2025: ₹47.97 Crore for Pampa-Sannidhanam Footpath Development


Despite Sabarimala generating a record revenue of ₹440 crore this year, the Kerala government, ₹47.97 crore for the development of the Pampa-Sannidhanam footpath as part of its latest budget.  


The final full-budget presentation of the second Pinarayi Vijayan government is currently underway, with Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal delivering the budget speech in the assembly from 9 AM. A total of ₹20 crore has been allocated for pilgrimage tourism, while ₹47.97 crore has been earmarked specifically for the development of the footpath connecting Pampa to Sannidhanam. The Finance Minister clarified that this is not a new initiative but part of an already planned master plan for the region.  


The key objective of the project is to modernize transportation to the shrine, enhance facilities for resting pilgrims, and construct a parallel road for emergency use. Additionally, the Sannidhanam area will be reorganized into eight zones to improve management and accessibility.  


To preserve the sacred views of the Makaravilakku, the plan includes two open plazas for devotees. Furthermore, a second phase of development will focus on restoring and upgrading infrastructure around the Pampa River. According to the proposed layout, the total estimated cost for the development of Pampa and the truck route stands at ₹255.45 crore.
