TTD Takes Action Against 18 Non-Hindu Employees for Violating temple rules

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the governing body of the Tirupati temple, has taken disciplinary action against 18 non-Hindu employees for allegedly engaging in non-Hindu religious practices despite having pledged to uphold and follow the Hindu faith upon joining.
As per the directive, all 18 employees have been barred from participating in any religious activities of the temple and have been instructed to transfer to positions unconnected to temple operations. The TTD Board stated that this decision aligns with its commitment to preserving the spiritual sanctity of its temples and religious functions.
Transfer or Voluntary Retirement Scheme Considered
The Board recently resolved to either transfer such employees to government departments or facilitate their exit through the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS). In line with these measures, the latest directive mandates disciplinary action against the identified employees.
According to a statement issued by the board, the employees in question were allegedly participating in non-Hindu religious activities while also taking part in Hindu religious fairs, festivals, and functions conducted by the TTD. The board emphasized that such actions affect the sanctity, sentiments, and beliefs of millions of Hindu devotees.
Oath Requirement and Sanctity of the Institution
TTD employees are required to take an oath before an image or idol of Lord Venkateshwara, pledging to follow the Hindu faith and its traditions upon joining. However, the board stated that the actions of these employees have been found to "demean" the prestige of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams.
A memo issued by the board assigned two TTD officials to verify the current postings of the 18 employees and ensure that they are not assigned to any role within Tirumala, any temple, or any religious program-related work.
TTD Chairman Reaffirms Commitment to Hindu Faith
TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu had earlier stated in media interactions that he is committed to ensuring that Tirumala remains a symbol of Hindu faith and sanctity. The latest action reflects this commitment, reinforcing the board’s stance on maintaining the religious and spiritual integrity of the temple.
