VHP Opposes Non-Believers in Sabarimala Development Authority, Calls for Religious Considerations

Kerala: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has strongly opposed the appointment of non-believers to the proposed development authority for Sabarimala. The organization insists that only those who respect the temple’s religious traditions should be involved in its construction and development.
The VHP has urged the government to consult Hindu organizations before finalizing the authority. They expressed concerns over Kerala’s Chief Minister and Devaswom Minister, who have publicly stated that they are not interested in spiritual matters. Given this, the VHP insists that Hindu religious leaders and spiritual figures should be included in decision-making to ensure that Sabarimala’s sacredness is preserved.
The organization emphasized that all development must align with religious beliefs, considering factors such as Vastu Shastra (traditional Hindu architectural principles) and environmental sustainability. Additionally, the VHP has called on the government and the Travancore Devaswom Board to address devotees' concerns about upcoming projects, including the proposed ropeway.
VHP State President Viji Thampi and General Secretary Adv. Anil Vilayil stressed that members of the authority must have knowledge of Hindu rituals and governance. They warned that appointing people unfamiliar with religious traditions could lead to mismanagement and future difficulties.
As the discussion on Sabarimala’s development continues, the VHP remains firm in its demand for a faith-driven approach that respects the temple’s religious and cultural significance.
