Sabarimala to Launch Ayyappa Gold Lockets for Vishu

Sabarimala, Kerala – Good news for Sabarimala pilgrims! A special gold locket featuring Lord Ayyappa will be available starting April 14, 2025, just in time for Vishu, the Malayalam New Year. The Travancore Devaswom Board, which manages the temple, gave the green signal for this during a meeting on March 5, 2025.
The lockets will come in different sizes—1, 2, 4, 6, and 8 grams—and will be made by two jewelry companies: GRT from Tamil Nadu and Kalyan from Kerala. Pilgrims can buy them in two ways: online through the Devaswom’s system or by paying cash at the Devaswom Administrative Office at Sannidhanam, the temple’s main area. Before being sold, each locket will be blessed inside the temple’s holy sanctum, making it extra special for devotees.
A fixed percentage of the money from the locket sales will go to the Devaswom Board. Since the Board’s own gold isn’t being used to make the lockets, legal advice stated that High Court permission isn’t needed. Based on this, Devaswom Board President P.S. Prashanth and member A. Ajikumar said they decided to release the lockets for Vishu itself.

This new locket is a thoughtful Vishu gift for Ayyappa devotees, blending faith with a keepsake they can wear or cherish. With sales starting soon, it’s a chance for pilgrims to bring home a piece of Sabarimala’s blessings.
